Gulmarg

Gulmarg, also known as ‘Path of Roses’, is a broad bowl shaped meadow, which offers a beautiful view across the valley, the Wular Lake and the snow capped ridges beyond. The destination is famed for its various sightseeing attractions like Maharani Temple, Baba Reshi Shrine, Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, Golf Course, Ningle Nallah, Ferozpore Nallah and Khilanmarg. Besides these, Gondola Lift and St. Mary's Church are also counted among the famous attractions of Gulmarg.

Maharani Temple, also known as Mohineshwar Shivalalaya, has the idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it was actually the royal temple of Dogra kings of Jammu and Kashmir.  Besides Maharani Temple, Baba Reshi Shrine and St. Mary's Church also constitute sites of religious importance.

Nature lovers visiting the destination can head towards Ningle Nallah, Ferozpore Nallah and Khilanmarg. Ferozpore Nallah is a beautiful mountain stream that is popular for trout fishing among the tourists. Owing to the purity of water, some locales also use it for the purpose of drinking.

Ningle Nallah, another beautiful sightseeing attraction, is a stream that lies about 8 km away from Gulmarg. Situated about 4 km from Gulmarg, Khilanmarg is one of the most renowned picnic spots among the visitors.

Furthermore, adventurous tourists can head towards Gondola Lift, one of the highest operating cable cars in the world. It offers 2 stretch services, one from Gondola Village to Kongdoor and the other from Kongdoor to Apharwat. Tourists, who are looking forward to camping, can visit Lien Marg, which is 13 km from the destination. Gulmarg also contains the world's highest golf course. One day membership is also available at this Golf Club.   

Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, another famous attraction of Gulmarg, is home to various species of flora, fauna and birds like leopards and red foxes. It is spread over an area of 180 sq km and is placed at a height ranging from 2,400 to 4,300 m above sea level
